Course Prerequisites
     Course Prerequisites and Co-requisites: None

Orientation to Online Learning
To be successful in an online course, you should assess your readiness to successfully engage in an online learning class at Broward College. You can complete the Orientation to Online Learning to determine if an online class is a right fit for you and to learn how to navigate the system.

Course Attendance and Participation Policy
Attendance: This is a blended - not a fully online - class, so class attendance is mandatory and vital to the ability for you to succeed in this course - and is also part of your grade.

You will be dropped from the class within the first two weeks if you:
  • Do not attend the first class meeting and fail to complete the online Class
   Orientation by the deadline; OR
  • Do not attend the first two class meetings, despite any online activity.

As the Last Day to Withdraw comes quickly in these short 8-week sessions (See Broward College Calendars), expect that if you stop attending class and/or fail to complete online activities by the stated deadlines that you will will not be administratively withdrawn (except as in the above circumstance).  You will remain on the roll and be issued a grade (which will most likely be F if you stop attending and/or completing online activities).

To avoid this situation, you should remain an active learner in this class and always communicate extenuating circumstances to your instructor. Ongoing communication with the instructor is critical to your course success. See the list of types of activities required for participation on the General Course Policies page, noting that this Blended course does not required any proctored testing outside of our classroom on designated class meeting days.

Should you not be able to complete the class for whatever reasons, you should withdraw yourself before the college deadline, understanding that you will likely still have to pay for the class.  See Broward College Fee Policies.

Methods of Instruction
Normally, a 3-credit hour course such as MUL 2010 would meet two or three times each week (during a 16 week term) for a total of 3 hours per week (including office hours) or 48 hours per term. This is a blended class, meeting half the time and requiring students to engage in weekly activities online in addition to the time studying and reading that would normally be associated with such a class (1-2 hours per week per credit hour). This will include reading required chapters of the textbook, listening to assigned music from the textbook audio collection, reading/viewing/listening to any supplementary materials made available at the class website, graded online discussions, graded online and in-class assignments, graded online tests/quizzes, listening tests/quizzes and music concert attendance with a written review.

NOTE! This course does not require any proctored testing outside of our regularly designated classes.
